In Progress

After the ponds were dug and the liner was in place, Rob and I started working on placing plants and statuary around the ponds.  It was not our intent to make the ponds different, but that is what happened with during this phase of the yard transformation.

The 10 foot bridge in the process of being painted. The Costal Island Pine that it took us 6 hours and 4 nurseries to find for the island.  Originally we had purchased a Blue Weeping Pine to go on the island, but the island was to small for the tree that we purchased. The temporary gazebo that we found for the start of the pond.  This is probably one of the best spots in the yard as there is almost always a breeze at this spot in the yard. The Blue Weeping Pine is to the left of the gazebo, but is hard to see in this picture.

Rob is seen in this picture behind the granite rock that was found as they were moving dirt to the back of our property.  Initially they thought it was a small rock, but then they had to dig it out with the large back hoe.  Woody estimates that this is 7.5 tons and even with the large back hoe on site they had to roll it to the front of the property for use as the greeting rock. This can give you an idea of the size of the rock.  This is the smaller back hoe that was used for placing rock around the pond and putting the pea gravel into the pond.Just for a comparison, here is the large back hoe as seen next to the house.

Matt is racking out the gravel to get it all even in the base of the pond for the filtration system to work properly.  Also doing this will clean out the gravel from much of the dirt and other things that are in the gravel when it is delivered.Rob and I took the week of 8/7 off to complete working on the pond.  This is Wednesday when we had to move the rocks, spread the dirt and finish the pea gravel installation.  The next day, the bark and additional pavers showed up.Pictured here is 10 yards of bark that was to be used to designate where the deck and grass are to be installed.

Simba watching Matt as he places the light in the channel.Simba watching the water bugs.  He would frequently attempt to reach out and touch them.  He would never fall in, but he came close!
