 | Yard 2007 Pictures of our yard at the end of the summer. During the summer of 2007 we had the pagoda installed as well as the deck. There are five main elements of a traditional Chinese garden. They are rock, water, plants, architecture and literature. At this time we do not have literature, so we are working on this element to make our garden into a traditional Chinese garden. During the summer of 2009 we will focus on building a barbeque center and continuing our plantings as we still have much landscaping to finish. Once the BBQ center is completed, the major work will be done, although we plan on creating several additional sitting areas throughout the yard and the stone has already been selected. | | | The view of the pagoda as you enter our yard. From point to point it is 14 feet wide. The table is made from a teak root. | This view is taken from the bog of the pond. The bog serves as a natural water filtration system for the koi which are in our pond. |
 | | | Another view of the pagoda from the swing near the bog. | The entrance to our pagoda, where even on the hottest summer day you will have a breeze. |
 | | | The grotto sitting area which is right next to the waterfall. Another cool and relaxing place to sit in the yard and just watch the koi swimming in the lower pond. | A view of the waterfall with the pagoda in the background. The bridge is 12 foot long while the stream is approximately 20 feet long with a 4 foot drop into the lower pond. |
 | | | This view of the deck is taken from across the pond and shows the back portion of the deck. The deck is approximately 1900 square feet. The main level is around 1000 sq. ft. with 900 feet in steps. The deck was designed so that we would be required to have a guard rail on the main level and obstruct any part of the view. Summer of 2008 will see the BBQ center being added to the deck. It will include a smoker, charcoal and gas grills. | The side view of the deck. There are two exits from the formal dining room onto the deck. |
