 | Inside Our Godchildren Our Godson The Chinese have a belief that says, "An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but will never break." The picture on this page is his passport photo that was taken in China for him to come to this country. Carolyn strongly believes this saying, which has lead her to adopt another baby from China. His Chinese name is Fei Xui Feng. His English name will be Anthony Beecher Xui Feng Hushbeck. If you are concerned about the length of his name, I wouldn't be. He will grow into that name. View the pictures to the right for proof of that idea. She was notified on December 13, 2002 that the papers had been signed on December 11, 2002 (Lorallan's birthday) that the adoption had been approved. It just so happens that he is 3 days older than Lorallan, making him a dragon as well. So, she will basically have two, two year olds that just happen to be dragons. If you talk to any Chinese family, they will tell you having two dragons in the household is a challenge in it's own right. But, having two 2 year olds? That would make anyone crazy! Just prior to leaving China, all children must have a complete physical. It was at this time that we learned that in addition to having the cleft lip which was corrected prior to his being put up for adoption, Tony actually had a cleft palate, which was probably the reason he was abandoned. On May 17, 2003, he had corrective surgery for the cleft palate. He is now learning how to eat without the hole in his mouth and learning to talk. Tony has had several surgeries now to correct the issues with his cleft palate and is doing much better. He still has some issues with his speech, but continues to have speech therapy. He is growing like a weed and has no problem with his appetite. Carolyn has a problem with it as she can never get him full!
