 | Yard I Yard Pictures 2005 Our summer 2005 task was putting in the ponds that we had envisioned when we purchased our home in 2002. The images below show the yard and all of these were taken with the Canon Rebel XT using programmed settings. I am still learning what the different settings do, but now will start playing with the manual controls. We have found that the two ponds have distinct personalities and the upper pond provides some excellent work for reflections. Images of the pond construction may be viewed here. This will provide you with information and links to the pages with images detailing the building and other information. | | | | In the upper pond is an island built of rocks, this shows a portion of it and there is an image below that shows a detailed reflection of the tree on the island. | These are two different images as I was not sure how just the shadow piece would look or work. When I took these pictures I was hobbling around on a crutch in the snow. Not a good idea, but the pictures were worth it! |
 | | | | This is the tree on the island reflected in the water with the base of the island showing through the water and reflection, just an image I thought was very special. Unfortunately we did not have the fish in the pond when I took this picture. | These are some lilies that are next to the gazebo that I really liked the way that they could frame the picture with the tree from the front yard reflected in the pond which is on the side of the house. | This gives a good idea of the size of the pond. The trees reflected in this picture are behind the houses across the street. |
 | | | | A long view of the pond. | It is only recently that I have tried this style of shot, one I have always wanted to do, but now must work on the style and lighting of the shot. |
 | | | The closest shot I have of this same picture. |
 | | | | This shows the tall pagoda at the end of the lower pond with the Water Nymph in front of it. | One of my favorite shots of the tall pagoda, with all of the natural greenery around it. | Believe it or not, this was not staged. Just a picture in the late morning after having added some water to the pond. |
