Teddy Bear 2004

This is the first tree that you see as you enter our home.  This is also one of the two trees that we entered into the Christopher Radko Best Tree in Town contest.  It is entitled Bears Around the World.

It is a 10 foot slim tree with 3250 GKI elegance lights on it with over 300 glass ornaments on it and 25 plush bears on the tree and approximately 30 bears at the base of the tree.  There are another 15 - 20 plush bears going up the banister and approximately 50 glass bears along the banister.  All of the glass ornaments on the tree and and banister are by Christopher Radko.

This tree was very difficult to photograph as you can tell this is from outside the front doors.  This is one of the most difficult trees to photograph given the location of the tree and the need to be outside the doors.

These three shots show the detail by our photographer friend, Rob Sinclair.

The Bear Nativity is from Vermont Teddy Bears and was a limited edition set from 2003.

These three shots show the branch that I have coming out of the top of the tree.  Rather than having a finial, I used a branch and then placed berries on the branch and then put some smaller bears on the branches  Again, the picture does not show this very well, but in person it actually worked very well.  It caused a bit of a traffic jam in the entry way at times.

This is the tree before I started decorating.  You can just barely see it, but laying in the bottom of the tree is a bear made in Japan from kimono fabric. The bear nativity set is from the Vermont Bears.  Each year we add a Nativity set to our collection of Nativities that we collect.  This was the set that we added 3 years ago.For the 100th Anniversary of the Teddy Bear, Lynn Haney offered this set.  At either end is a Stieff piece.  To the left is the piece offered this year for their snowflake that they offer each year.  This year they also offered it with a bear.  At the right is a bear that Rob picked up while he was in Germany on business during Oktoberfest.

Detailed pictures from the bear tree.  This was a popular tree with the children that came to visit after the open house and with guests during the open house.  It shows that at heart we are all children and we all love our teddy bears no matter how old we are!

This bear was purchased on eBay and is made entirely from kimono fabric.  He usually sits in our formal living room. Our official greeters for Christmas.  While they do not have any special names, they are all very special members of our family.  I thought that several of them were going to be kidnapped during the open house.  One must even watch your friends when it comes to teddy bears!

From the entryway you step down into the formal living room which has the main tree.  This tree has only Christopher Radko ornaments on it.  Please click on the Main tree link below.
